AIRTRAX FILES FOR PATENT PROTECTION: OMNI-DIRECTIONAL OPERATOR INTERFACE
10/28/2004
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HAMMONTON, NEW JERSEY October 28, 2003 AIRTRAX FILES FOR PATENT PROTECTION: OMNI-DIRECTIONAL OPERATOR INTERFACE AIRTRAX Corporation (OTC BB AITX) announced development of an ingenious operator interface for omni-directional vehicles. The new interface is the result of internal product development aimed at improving operator efficiency for industrial walk behind vehicles. These vehicles include material transporters, lifting equipment, industrial positioning devices, aircraft support equipment, or any Walk Behind Vehicles that require operator control. The operator interface consists of a console mounted onto a mechanism that enables the operator to position the control console anywhere within a defined three dimensional envelope centered on the point of attachment to the host vehicle. Key benefits include: .allowing the operator to position himself anywhere within the defined envelope. He is thereby able to view the vehicle from different vantage points, even while the vehicle is in motion. This permits the operator to maneuver safely near obstructions. .providing continuous tactile feedback to the operator. Unlike a pendant or radio control, this interface continuously conveys the vehicles longitudinal, transverse, and rotational motion rates to the operator, enhancing the man-vehicle control loop, and maximizing positioning precision. . maintaining the angular orientation between the operator control station and the host vehicle throughout the control station positioning envelope, thereby keeping the X-Y axis orientation of the vehicle and control module the same. This feature reduces the time to obtain operator proficiency and the likelihood of accidents, by making vehicle control highly intuitive. Nicholas Fenelli, Airtrax: VP Concept Development and principal inventor said, This patent-pending operator interface enhances the utility and safety of Walk Behind Vehicles. Fenelli added, the combined features of enhanced visibility, tactile feedback, and stable orientation help maximize an operators performance and productivity, as well as substantially increasing safety. Airtrax President, Peter Amico stated, The new operator interface, combined with Omni-Directional mobility, and other Airtrax patent protected features, gives our company a very significant advantage in commercial and military applications. Any competitor will have to work really hard to match the capabilities weve achieved. A video showing the SIDEWINDER ATX-3000 Omni-Directional forklift can be seen on: www.airtrax.com.
