- SIDEWINDER Proves More Stable Than Any Lift Truck in Its Class -
HAMMONTON, N.J., March 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Airtrax, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: AITX - News), a developer of patented, Omni-Directional Technology with military and commercial applications, announced today that it has completed all of the testing required to prove stability compliance of the SIDEWINDER Model ATX-3000, with standard options, under ASME/ANSI B56.1 (B56.1 relates to safety standards of American Society of Mechanical Engineers/American National Standards Institute).

In nearly every case, the SIDEWINDER exceeded the stability requirements under ASME/ANSI B56.1 by more than double, which Airtrax believes proves that the SIDEWINDER is more stable than any lift truck in its class. The added stability is primarily due to the vehicle's low center of gravity, and wheel width inherent from Airtrax's Omni-Directional Technology. Tests concluded that the Airtrax vehicle slides on a tilted platform, rather than tipping, further demonstrating the fundamental safety of this vehicle.
Continuous testing of the SIDEWINDER is ongoing. These tests include continuous endurance testing used to determine ultimate life and durability of all components, as well as safety compliance testing to Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Standard 583. While UL testing is not required to fill current orders, the Company believes its client base is better served by securing a UL listing.
Airtrax CEO Peter Amico stated, "We are extremely pleased that our test results for stability exceeded any other vehicle in our class. This test reinforces our previous assumptions and claims regarding the superior safety and performance features of the SIDEWINDER. Successfully meeting additional testing requirements should enhance our marketing and sales of the SIDEWINDER to diverse and global commercial markets."
About Airtrax, Inc.
A U.S.-based developer of omni-directional technology, Airtrax designs and manufactures omni-directional vehicles. A patented wheel was designed and developed by Airtrax after receiving a technology transfer from the US Navy in the form of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA).
The SIDEWINDER(TM) Omni-Directional Lift Truck, and the Airtrax-MEC Cobra (TM) aerial work platform (AWP) are the first omni-directional vehicles using omni-directional technology and the patented Airtrax wheel to be commercially produced. Unlike any other lift truck, the SIDEWINDER or the Cobra AWP can turn 360 degrees in its own footprint, travel sideways or move in any direction, allowing warehouses to increase storage density up to 20 - 30%. The nearly maintenance-free design also reduces maintenance costs, delivering cost efficiencies to companies both large and small. The Airtrax patented Omni- Directional wheel is manufactured exclusively for Airtrax vehicles. For more information and to view a must-see product demonstration, visit .
